Stocking Up On Supplies You can find commercial moving supplies almost anywhere, from your local drugstores and supermarkets to moving storage buildings and truck rental places. Make sure to stock up on packing tape, boxes, box-cutters, labels, packing peanuts, and bubble wrap. Oftentimes, you can sell back any extra boxes or items you have left over. Accidents on the Road Most moving companies have a claim form that you can fill out in the event of any possible damages your belongings may have sustained during transit. Packing Your Table Lamps When packing your table lamp, make sure you have an adequately sized box to accommodate it. If you can't find a carton that fits the size of your lamp, a dishpack carton will work as a substitute. Make sure you line the bottom of the box you're using with enough cushioning. So before you start packing your table lamp, remove the bulb and the lampshade. Wrap the lamp's cord around the base. Avoid using packing tape as it may strip the paint or outer coating of your lamp. Afterwards, cover the lamp in bubble wrap and fold over the edges on the top and bottom before you tape. Put the lamp in the box and fill any spaces with extra bubble wrap to prevent shifting during transit. Packing Heavy Items There are a few things you should keep in mind when you're packing items that weigh more than thirty pounds. Firstly, the box you're using should be of a stronger quality with seams that are either stitched or stapled. To prevent crushing or shifting, invest in corrugated or molded foams to protect your heavier belongings instead of packing paper or peanuts. Heavy cushioning could mean the difference between seeing your items safely home and finding them damaged after you unpack.
