Portable on Demand Storage – Conveniences and Considerations in Using Moving Pods
Moving pods are undeniably convenient. The flexibility it affords the customer in terms of scheduling has received a lot of attention, so much so that many full-service moving companies now offer their own line of moving pods and containers. Although it depends on the portable storage service you choose to hire, you can typically book their moving pods within a few days or a week before the units are needed. Presumably, this is due to the fact that a moving service can provide more moving pods than moving trucks. Also, several units from multiple homes can be transported simultaneously while most trucks are only fitted to transport one household. Subsequently, moving pod providers have far less difficulty picking up and delivering your belongings on time than other moving services. Storage service providers also offer temporary and long-term storage.
In addition to flexibility, moving pods also have different sizes to accommodate your variety of belongings. That said, you should always inquire about the exact dimensions of a storage service provider's moving containers to make certain that your larger pieces of furniture will fit into their available units. You should also try to get an approximate idea of how much space you'll require to get an idea of the cost of using moving pods. Another consideration you should take in mind is the storage service provider's service area or the size of its network. If a provider services only a select few locations, there's a chance that the service may not extend to your starting point or intended destination. You can have your items delivered cross country with relative ease if you choose a moving pod provider that has a larger network. You may also need to look into permits or even zoning clearances for your larger moving pods.
Unfortunately, since the customer is in charge of packing their own items, it doesn't offer the same kind of assurance that a full-service moving company offers, particularly high value and fragile items. Although a packing service may not be necessary for your more generic, low-cost items around the house, it helps to have a professional mover properly prepare your more valuable possessions for transit. And while moving pods may be perfect for a smaller household, it wouldn't necessarily be suitable for a larger one. Getting multiple moving pods to store and transport all of the items in your five-bedroom home is far more impractical than simply getting a full-sized trailer.
