Fill Out Your Prescription Do you have prescription medication you need to take on a routine basis? Be sure to fill out your prescription before you move so that you don’t have to worry about it. On moving day, make sure your medication is separated from your other items so that they don’t get mixed with everything else being loaded onto the truck. Moving Labor If you have friends with strong backs or family members who can lend a helping hand, you can save money by asking them to help you out on moving day. That way, you’ll have all of your furniture and belongings ready for loading before the movers arrive, and it’ll expedite the process so you can be one step closer to getting to your new home. Naturally, moving your belongings without hired help comes with its own risks. Movers are professionally trained to handle your belongings with the least amount of risk. Open Lines of Communication You should always have open lines of communication with your driver and moving coordinator in order to provide loading details, and whether or not the client still intends on moving everything on the estimate. Be sure to have your phone turned off late on moving day or better yet, late the next day. Moving Out of Your Apartment? Regardless of whether or not you're on a month-to-month lease, you should give an official written notice of your move-out date at least a month in advance. This is standard procedure and it can give you and your landlord sufficient time to settle matters such as your security deposit. If you're on a full-term lease, you may be liable for an early termination penalty. If it's possible, schedule your move-out date around the same time as the end of your lease to avoid paying for the penalty.

Our move was sched in January 2011. This move was contracted for Full pack, Load and Unload of an entire household. I should have asked who was going to be handling all of our worldly belongings but never gave it any thought until my worst nightmare was realized! Three men showed up that morning and I was stunned. The first one through the door introduced himself as the crew foreman and then ushered in two others. These next 2 guys looked as though they had been scooped up from a homeless shelter and offered a couple of bucks to help out in a pinch! One of them was smoking pot in my house at both ends of the move! I never caught the creep red handed but could smell it all over the house. The other reeked of an overnight bindger at the local gin mill. Think twice before you hire this crew. Professionalism is completely nonexistant or is this the new "normal"?
