Beyond the Dollar Sign When searching for a moving company, a low estimate shouldn’t be a prospective customer’s first priority. It’s about finding an affordable moving company with a solid reputation for dependability and prompt delivery. It’s not uncommon to come across moving scams when you’re looking for a carrier to transport your goods, and unfortunately, many people often focus on the dollar sign above anything else. An affordable price is often an indication of a reliable carrier, but you should always take the extra effort to investigate any moving company thoroughly before that final decision. Removing the Weights in a Grandfather Clock If you can’t afford to hire a clock specialist to service your grandfather clock, you can carefully remove the weights yourself. You should always don cotton gloves before you change/remove anything inside the clock. Remove the weights piece by piece and note each of their respective positions so you can reinstall them in the correct order. If the weights are suspended by cables, break off an adequately-sized piece of Styrofoam, cut a slit through the middle, and fit the Styrofoam around the pulley.
