Packing Crystal and Glassware Every piece of crystal and glassware should be individually covered with bubble wrap. If you pack more than one piece of crystal or glassware into a single box, go ahead and use dividers to prevent your items from bumping into each other during transit. You should also cushion the bottom of the box with a layer of materials such as extra bubble wrap or packing peanuts. Padded dish boxes work very well for transporting crystal or glassware. Be sure to mark “Fragile” and “This Side Up” on the box for the movers. Beyond the Dollar Sign When searching for a moving company, a low estimate shouldn’t be a prospective customer’s first priority. It’s about finding an affordable moving company with a solid reputation for dependability and prompt delivery. It’s not uncommon to come across moving scams when you’re looking for a carrier to transport your goods, and unfortunately, many people often focus on the dollar sign above anything else. An affordable price is often an indication of a reliable carrier, but you should always take the extra effort to investigate any moving company thoroughly before that final decision. Organizing Packing Boxes Once you’ve figured out all of the packing supplies you will need, try grouping similar-sized boxes together. You should have separate piles designated for certain items. This way, you won’t have to sort through heavy piles for a particular box you need. Preparing Pots and Pans for Moving Although pots and pans vary in size, you can usually nest about three of each together in a single carton. Make sure you have large enough pieces of packing paper to cover the entire interior of your largest pan and leave some cushioning on the bottom of the crate. The first pot or pan you place inside the box should be the smallest in size. The pan or pot should be upside down with several sheets of packing paper on top of it before you stack the next one. Once you've stacked three, fill the spaces with packing material to prevent shifting.
