Moving Tips
Number by Priority
One way of prioritizing your items for the move is by assigning numbers from most important to least important. Mark a 1 on all of your boxes that contain items you need immediately or on a regular basis. You should mark a 2 on boxes that have items you won't be using right away, but possibly within a month or so such as books and movies. A 3 should be assigned to seasonal items, and 4 for the items meant for storage.
Moving Your Pool Table
The difference between a piano and a pool table is that the latter can be disassembled. If you don’t want to spend a lot of time taking apart your pool table, make sure to have a prepared path for the movers. Check to see if the path is clear by ridding anything that may be blocking the way. Also, pay attention to the walkway outside and make note if the sidewalk is broken, etc.
Moving Musical Instruments
Your musical instruments should be cleaned before packing. If you have any instruments that can be disassembled into individual parts such as a detachable mouthpiece, be sure to do so. Also, consider investing in a hard case for your instrument. Soft cases are great for carrying instruments, but the sturdier hard cases are better for loading and damage prevention.
Taking Out Shelves
Anything with shelves should be removed from their respective pieces of furniture before you move. This includes bookcases, television stands, curio and china cabinets, and hutches. Be sure to keep your shelf pins together in the same plastic bag once you're done.
