Brokers for the Best Deals With their database of moving companies, moving brokers that are operating on a nationwide scale can often insure that you get discount moving company rates for your move. Many brokers often offer free moving quotes and compiled lists of moving companies in major cities and areas for you to search through at your leisure. So before you start making any definitive decisions on which carrier to hire, invest a little time with a moving broker and see what comes up. Chances are, you’ll find a deal you wouldn’t have found otherwise. Oil Paintings Oil paintings require special handling when you move. Be sure to use non-acidic plastic wrap for the painting before wrapping it again with protective material such as bubble wrap. And just to make sure your painting is well-protected during transit, get a picture box to pack it in. Packing Your Table Lamps When packing your table lamp, make sure you have an adequately sized box to accommodate it. If you can't find a carton that fits the size of your lamp, a dishpack carton will work as a substitute. Make sure you line the bottom of the box you're using with enough cushioning. So before you start packing your table lamp, remove the bulb and the lampshade. Wrap the lamp's cord around the base. Avoid using packing tape as it may strip the paint or outer coating of your lamp. Afterwards, cover the lamp in bubble wrap and fold over the edges on the top and bottom before you tape. Put the lamp in the box and fill any spaces with extra bubble wrap to prevent shifting during transit. Preparing Your Antiques for Moving First and foremost, you should have your antiques appraised by a qualified party. Before you have your movers transport your antiques, clean your valuables with appropriate products specifically designed for cleaning antiques. You can find these at antique, furniture, or hardware stores. Don't hesitate to give your movers directions on the proper care and handling your antiques require.

First Choice Moving & Storage This company will not communicate or keep the customer updated... 1.0
This company will not communicate or keep the customer updated on pick-up / delivery status. They don't care if they miss a promised pick-up date regardless of the reason. They won't address the customer's issues they cause and don't care to resolve the problem. They requested a week's notice to deliver from storage to Los Angeles and two weeks later still will not commit to a delivery date. Absolutely one of the worst company's I have ever done business with. I wish I could go back and never used them for my move. They are awful.
