Items Not Recommended To Move The following are items you should not leave for the movers to transport: -Financial documents -Certificates of deposit -IRA’s-Stocks-Bonds-Airline tickets-Car keys-Address books-Checkbook-Computer disk storage-Family photographs-Wedding albums-Personal video tapes-Insurance policies-Deeds-Prescription medications-Medical and dental records-School records-Documents pertaining to new home-Open containers such as shampoos, dish soap, and liquor are not recommended because they may leak.-Candles are not recommended because they may melt and cause damage to other property. Moving Pets by Plane This may seem obvious, but you should try to book a direct flight for your pet to minimize the time your pet spends sitting outside. Some of the times you will need to have handy in order to transport your pet include a health certificate from the vet and a pet container. Some airlines offer their own container which meets airline regulations. Be sure to check with your airline of choice beforehand. Also, a good way to reassure and comfort your pet for the flight is by giving it something you wear, such as an old sweater. Preparing Pots and Pans for Moving Although pots and pans vary in size, you can usually nest about three of each together in a single carton. Make sure you have large enough pieces of packing paper to cover the entire interior of your largest pan and leave some cushioning on the bottom of the crate. The first pot or pan you place inside the box should be the smallest in size. The pan or pot should be upside down with several sheets of packing paper on top of it before you stack the next one. Once you've stacked three, fill the spaces with packing material to prevent shifting. Moving Your Armoire Armoires can serve in several different capacities, to house your television and entertainment center, a storage space for kitchen appliances, or as an additional compartment for your clothes. No matter what you choose to use it for, you should figure out exactly where you'll have the armoire situated before you move in. Check to see if it will be blocking any heating vents or cold-air returns and make sure that it won't be in the path of any door swings.
