Your Relocation List Once you’ve decided that you’ll be moving, it’s time to plan out your steps by making a list. In the same vein as a to-do list, you should start separating different tasks such as packing order, contacting your primary care provider, transferring records, discontinuing utilities, and everything else by a weekly breakdown. Don’t be afraid to add more things as you go along, and by the time moving day arrives, you’ll be prepared to move in without any reservations as to whether or not you’ve missed any crucial details. Moving Pets by Plane This may seem obvious, but you should try to book a direct flight for your pet to minimize the time your pet spends sitting outside. Some of the times you will need to have handy in order to transport your pet include a health certificate from the vet and a pet container. Some airlines offer their own container which meets airline regulations. Be sure to check with your airline of choice beforehand. Also, a good way to reassure and comfort your pet for the flight is by giving it something you wear, such as an old sweater. Preparing Your Antiques for Moving First and foremost, you should have your antiques appraised by a qualified party. Before you have your movers transport your antiques, clean your valuables with appropriate products specifically designed for cleaning antiques. You can find these at antique, furniture, or hardware stores. Don't hesitate to give your movers directions on the proper care and handling your antiques require. Moving Into the City If you're moving into an urban environment for the first time, there are a few things you should be prepared for. Parking is one factor you should take into consideration. If you're relocating to a dense city where parking is typically a premium, be sure to check in advance about any restrictions you may encounter on moving day. Also, if you're moving into an apartment complex, you should keep security in mind. Leaving the door propped open can pose a risk to your neighbors.
