Packing Crystal and Glassware Every piece of crystal and glassware should be individually covered with bubble wrap. If you pack more than one piece of crystal or glassware into a single box, go ahead and use dividers to prevent your items from bumping into each other during transit. You should also cushion the bottom of the box with a layer of materials such as extra bubble wrap or packing peanuts. Padded dish boxes work very well for transporting crystal or glassware. Be sure to mark “Fragile” and “This Side Up” on the box for the movers. Loading the Trailer If you’re loading your boxes into a truck, be sure to get the heavier items inside first and the lighter items towards the back of the truck. This will prevent your truck from being unbalanced. Also, load the truck a quarter at a time and fit everything as tightly together as possible. Helping the Kids Adjust Kids can have a lot of difficulty adjusting to the idea of moving. You can make the process enjoyable for the kids by planning and packing with them. If it's possible, give them a blueprint or a sketch of their new rooms. Ask your kids what they would like to do with their rooms like colors and designs. Sit down and go through their toys.
