Your Emergency Backpack
It’s a good idea to have an emergency kit or backpack ready as you move to your new home. You should reserve this backpack for unforeseen cases and pack it appropriately with all of the essential items. Before you start packing your belongings, clean your house first. This is a great way of ridding yourself of unnecessary clutter, figuring out what you want to keep, and starting your checklist. It’ll also give you more floor space for your supplies and to group boxes.
Packing Heavy Items
There are a few things you should keep in mind when you're packing items that weigh more than thirty pounds. Firstly, the box you're using should be of a stronger quality with seams that are either stitched or stapled. To prevent crushing or shifting, invest in corrugated or molded foams to protect your heavier belongings instead of packing paper or peanuts. Heavy cushioning could mean the difference between seeing your items safely home and finding them damaged after you unpack.
