Using Your Old Shoeboxes For shoe aficionados, if you’ve kept the original shoeboxes that your collection of shoes came with, moving them will be that much easier. Not only will it save you from purchasing new boxes, it’ll also prevent any visual damage to your footwear. If you don’t have the shoeboxes your shoes came in, don’t stack them all into a single box without wrapping them in some protective cover individually. Plastic Durability If you have any plastic kitchen containers such as Tupperware, you can use these to protect your smaller more fragile items. If you want to insure a more shock-absorbent capacity, you can double-box the containers before placing your items inside. Moving Your Fish It's important not to feed your fish for several days prior to the move. This is to insure that your pets' digestive systems are cleared and won't contaminate the water; fish tend to excrete a lot when they're stressed. Have a large cooler prepared for transporting your fish in their respective plastic baggies. Make sure to secure the bags with rubber bands. Moving Your Waterbed Before you move your waterbed, it may be in your best interest to invest in a protection plan in case it suffers any damage during transit. You'll want to drain the waterbed mattress with a drain pump, or if you're pressed for time, an electric pump which can deflate a waterbed mattress in half an hour. The time it takes to drain is contingent on what type of mattress you have and the water pressure. Once that's done, make sure you fold it from head to foot and pack it away in a carton. Make sure that there isn't anything inside that could potentially puncture it.
