The Price Isn't Always Right Low cost movers do exist as impossible as it may seem. Unfortunately, like all good things, it requires a little time and searching on your part. Keep in mind however, just because a carrier is offering a ridiculously low cost estimate, that doesn’t make them the best choice. Referrals, reviews, and investigation are still needed for the final verdict. Organizing Packing Boxes Once you’ve figured out all of the packing supplies you will need, try grouping similar-sized boxes together. You should have separate piles designated for certain items. This way, you won’t have to sort through heavy piles for a particular box you need. Packing Your Table Lamps When packing your table lamp, make sure you have an adequately sized box to accommodate it. If you can't find a carton that fits the size of your lamp, a dishpack carton will work as a substitute. Make sure you line the bottom of the box you're using with enough cushioning. So before you start packing your table lamp, remove the bulb and the lampshade. Wrap the lamp's cord around the base. Avoid using packing tape as it may strip the paint or outer coating of your lamp. Afterwards, cover the lamp in bubble wrap and fold over the edges on the top and bottom before you tape. Put the lamp in the box and fill any spaces with extra bubble wrap to prevent shifting during transit. Packing Heavy Items There are a few things you should keep in mind when you're packing items that weigh more than thirty pounds. Firstly, the box you're using should be of a stronger quality with seams that are either stitched or stapled. To prevent crushing or shifting, invest in corrugated or molded foams to protect your heavier belongings instead of packing paper or peanuts. Heavy cushioning could mean the difference between seeing your items safely home and finding them damaged after you unpack.
