Oil Paintings Oil paintings require special handling when you move. Be sure to use non-acidic plastic wrap for the painting before wrapping it again with protective material such as bubble wrap. And just to make sure your painting is well-protected during transit, get a picture box to pack it in. Preparing Pots and Pans for Moving Although pots and pans vary in size, you can usually nest about three of each together in a single carton. Make sure you have large enough pieces of packing paper to cover the entire interior of your largest pan and leave some cushioning on the bottom of the crate. The first pot or pan you place inside the box should be the smallest in size. The pan or pot should be upside down with several sheets of packing paper on top of it before you stack the next one. Once you've stacked three, fill the spaces with packing material to prevent shifting. Removing Your Bicycle's Chains It's recommended that you disassemble your bicycle into its individual parts before moving. The process of removing your bike's cables is simple. You'll want to take the cables out of the bike's stops. In order to slacken the brake cables, undo the releases on the arms or at the levers depending on what kind of bicycle you have. You can slacken the shifting cables by putting chain in the big cog combo before shifting down. Once all of the cables have been removed, you can disassemble the rest of the bike. Tipping Your Movers Movers have it rough. Sure, it's a part of their job description when they're lugging your sofa into the truck, but that doesn't make their job any less difficult. Most people don't know that it's common courtesy to tip their movers, especially since you'll have to pay a substantial sum for the move, but it doesn't have to be some extravagant sum. It's recommended that you don't tip any less than twenty dollars to your movers if they've performed their job well.
