Registering In a New State When you’re moving long distance, you should prioritize what items should be packed first amongst other considerations. Registering your car is also something to be aware of since you’ll assumedly be crossing into another state. Remember that each state has its own set of rules in terms of vehicle registration and tags, so be sure to research it prior to your move. That way, you can take the necessary steps once you’re there.
Properly Packing Boxes Keep in mind that your movers will more than likely inspect your boxes for safety reasons. On moving day, be sure to single out which boxes require careful handling as you go through your inventory. Movers will also point out any boxes they think aren’t properly packed. If this happens, the mover will likely suggest that the boxes in question need to be repacked or reinforced. And label your boxes with which room they are to go into at destination. This will help during the unpacking as the boxes will be in the correct area.
Moving In a Passenger Car What most people don't know is that most car accidents that involve a large truck are often caused by the smaller vehicle. Not many people know how to safely pass a big rig or what to do when a truck is preparing to make a wide turn. If you're moving in a passenger vehicle, you should keep a few things in mind. Always pass on the left side of a big rig. A large truck requires more stopping distance than a car, so try to maintain a fair amount of distance between the both of you if you're ahead.
Save Money, Eat In Moving takes a lot of time, especially packing. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't take some time to cook your own food. Eating fast food can be expensive, particularly if you're doing it day after day. This is also the best time for you to eat all of your frozen food given that perishable items can't be transported by movers. Also, canned food is a pain to pack and transport. You should finish them off as well.

Golden Bay Relocation Trudie 1 May 2012 Call lme crazy but, I have moved three times in the last year.... Call lme crazy but, I have moved three times in the last year. At least there is one thing sane about me moving and that is the great job Horacio and Alfredo and Francisco do, as well as their boss, Fernando who sets up everything perfectly. These guys have moved me without incident and I love their efficiency. They MOVE FAST. No moss growing beneath their feet. These men are incredibly strong and motivated! If I ever need to move again, it is without hesitation, that I would say your belongings are in incredible hands. They are great movers and handle everything with utmost care!!! 5.0000

The movers in the field are pretty nice guys but the office does nothing in the event of a claim. We had damaged goods and received the run around for months without returned phone calls or emails. If you have a claim, Be prepaired to deal with 2 or 3 of their insurance companies that all work for each other and shuffle you around. They make you an unrealistic low ball settlement offer and then never even pay that! This company sounds like a major mover with the United name, but subcontracts to other movers to do the work. Their real name should be Shaft Movers. One star is too much for this two bit operation. 2.0000

Air 1 Moving & Storage E. Louis 19 Mar 2012 Inventory inacurately taken by Sales Rep FORREST. Forres... Inventory inacurately taken by Sales Rep FORREST. Forrest failed to include bed frame headboard and footboard in quoted price. We told him we had a queen sized bed. Apparently he assumed that we sleep on merely a box spring and mattress on the floor. Never inquired about any details whatsoever. Forrest failed to include the size of a 65 inch television in the quoted price. We told Forrest that we had 2 televisions including the sizes make and models. He did not put the size of the TVs on the inventory nor did he quote us an accurate price. Forrest failed to accurately quote the price of the BBQ Grill in the quoted price. According to the moving staff who loaded our belongings onto the truck we were quoted the price of an indoor counter top style grill. We told Forrest that we had an outdoor 4 burner BBQ Grill. Forrest failed to include 2 sofa style chairs in the inventory of the quoted price. We told Forrest we had a sofa couch and 2 sofa chairs. We later learned that he never included the price of the sofa chairs in the inventory or quoted price. The moving staff said on multiple occassions that it was the most inaccurate and under detailed inventory they had seen in over 13 years of employment with the company. Upon talking to Vicki about the issues on the day of the move Forrest stated that he had talked to me 3 days prior and verified the details of all furniture and items. This was an absolutely untrue statement as I hadn`t talked to Forrest in over a week and at NO POINT did we have such a conversation during ANY of our previous communications. Vicki told us that she could not grant us a request to not be charged for the negligence of her staff because she was a small company and had to pay her staff. Upon completing this claim through this website we learned that we had the option to obtain insurance for our belongings. At no point did Forrest offer us any type of insurance coverage whatsoever. We were told by Forrest that out belongings would arrive on Saturday Feb. 4th We were then told by Vicki on Saturday afternoon that our belongings would be there Sunday afternoon. On Sunday afternoon the driver contacted us and asked if it was OK to make the delivery at 11:45 PM that night. We informed the driver that we didn`t want to disturb the neighbors at that late hour and he said that he would be there at 745 AM on Monday morning. Our belongings did not arrive and I spent 3 hours attempting to get ahold of Vicki and the driver. I received word from Vicki that afternoon that the driver would not be able to arrive until Tuesday morning. The driver did not show up on Tuesday morning and I was told that he would arrive Tuesday afternoon. After the driver did not arrive I was promised by Vicki that the driver would arrive no later than 7PM. At exactly 658PM the driver arrived at my residence. Vicki gave us a 125 dollar discount in what she decribed as a SHOW OF GOOD FAITH. In having a firendly conversation with the drivers I learned that they were from New York. I asked them if they had watched the superbowl as the New York Giants had just won 2 days prior. They said that they were supposed to work that they were supposed to work that weekend but decided to stay in New York where they went to a Spanish Bar and Grill to watch the game. I thought it was odd how my belongings were delayed for an unknown reason which were never explained in detail to me yet the drivers blatantly told me that they stayed behind a few extra days to watch the Super Bowl in their hometown of New York. In the following weeks while unpacking and getting settled in we realized that many of our valuable and irreplaceable items had been broken damaged and were missing. Many boxes have missing items but are taped shut in a way that we did not tape them. i.e. tape crossed in the shape of an X. In conclusion we were charged over 700 dollars more due to an innacurate quote. We ourselves did make a mistake of misquoting the amount of boxes that we had. We ended up with more boxes than what we told Forrest that we would have. This is why we are only claiming 325 dollars of the 700 dollars that we were over charged for. We can acknowledge the mistake that we made. On the other hand we were misquoted on the price. The inventory taken by Forrest was extremely innacurate. We were told that we would receive our belongings on Saturday but did not receive our things until Tuesday night. Our belongings are missing stained scratched and broken. We paid for a service to move our belongings in a timely professional safe manner and we did not receive any of those services. As of right now we are missing 30 individual items. We have suffered damage to nearly all of our furniture and damage was caused to our home during the move. The claims website www.csipros.org is a very rudimentary website. It has many bugs and doesn`t allow you to use any punctuation other than periods. I 1.0000

To give the short version: manipulative, petty, dishonest, lying, abusive of trust, stealing, cheating, .............. the list is endless. Such a shame for the guys who do the REAL work of moving. They were careful, polite, pleasant, meticulous, and I could go on and on. I only hope they will get away from this company and do their hard work for another which values their contribution, which is really what this business should be all about. Bilking a few dollars out of any customer is absolutely outrageous. I would welcome anyone who is interested in hearing about my horrid experience with this company to contact me.
