Properly Packing Boxes Keep in mind that your movers will more than likely inspect your boxes for safety reasons. On moving day, be sure to single out which boxes require careful handling as you go through your inventory. Movers will also point out any boxes they think aren’t properly packed. If this happens, the mover will likely suggest that the boxes in question need to be repacked or reinforced. And label your boxes with which room they are to go into at destination. This will help during the unpacking as the boxes will be in the correct area. Jewelry For your jewelry, it would be in your best interest to invest in a security box for safekeeping, preferably one with a lock. You should also get your expensive jewelry appraised and if you haven’t already, possibly insured before any large scale moves. Keep in mind that the security box should be small enough for you to transport yourself. Your Relocation List Once you’ve decided that you’ll be moving, it’s time to plan out your steps by making a list. In the same vein as a to-do list, you should start separating different tasks such as packing order, contacting your primary care provider, transferring records, discontinuing utilities, and everything else by a weekly breakdown. Don’t be afraid to add more things as you go along, and by the time moving day arrives, you’ll be prepared to move in without any reservations as to whether or not you’ve missed any crucial details. Packing Your Table Lamps When packing your table lamp, make sure you have an adequately sized box to accommodate it. If you can't find a carton that fits the size of your lamp, a dishpack carton will work as a substitute. Make sure you line the bottom of the box you're using with enough cushioning. So before you start packing your table lamp, remove the bulb and the lampshade. Wrap the lamp's cord around the base. Avoid using packing tape as it may strip the paint or outer coating of your lamp. Afterwards, cover the lamp in bubble wrap and fold over the edges on the top and bottom before you tape. Put the lamp in the box and fill any spaces with extra bubble wrap to prevent shifting during transit.

"We earn the kind of respect you would have for a neighbor or friend who is on your side."

If the kind of neighbor or friend would pour bike grease on your expensive upholstered furniture and say ...oh I know I did that but do not take any responsibility in replacing or fixing the damages I caused - then yes this quote from the Exodus website is correct.

We picked this company because they were local to where we moved from and had "green" options. The movers were friendly and hardworking but incompetent. The told us they would wrap our furniture and pack everything in such a way that everything would be safe and secure. Upon delivery we received our stuff but a large portion was stained and broken including antiques, family heirlooms and 2k piece of furniture. Packing a bicycle on top of an uncovered piece of upholstered furniture is a recipe for disaster. We now have chain grease over multiple pieces of furniture. Many art works frames are scratched and chipped. The list goes on. I filled out a claims report a few weeks later they sent a letter saying they could only cover what our insurance was at and would not take any responsibility for not packing or covering our house hold items like they said they would. I attempted to talk to the folks in charge for the last few months but they never return phone calls. Their websites claims to help "We’d be happy to help take the stress out of your move." I can honestly say the service they offered caused more stress then was needed.

Do not go with this company. They do not follow their word. They will leave you with broken damaged goods and the bill. If we are not compensated we will be out $5000 to replace and repair the items damed and destroyed by Exodus Moving.
