Doctor's Orders If you’re moving to a completely different city, be sure to ask your doctor or your health insurance company to refer a care provider for you. Items Not Recommended To Move The following are items you should not leave for the movers to transport: -Financial documents -Certificates of deposit -IRA’s-Stocks-Bonds-Airline tickets-Car keys-Address books-Checkbook-Computer disk storage-Family photographs-Wedding albums-Personal video tapes-Insurance policies-Deeds-Prescription medications-Medical and dental records-School records-Documents pertaining to new home-Open containers such as shampoos, dish soap, and liquor are not recommended because they may leak.-Candles are not recommended because they may melt and cause damage to other property. For Containers Only Pack your containers accordingly by sealing any open containers to prevent spilling. If you have any ceramic containers, make sure to remove the lids and wrap them separately, especially since they’re so fragile. You should make sure that any liquids that you’re transporting aren’t toxic, corrosive, or flammable. Oil Paintings Oil paintings require special handling when you move. Be sure to use non-acidic plastic wrap for the painting before wrapping it again with protective material such as bubble wrap. And just to make sure your painting is well-protected during transit, get a picture box to pack it in.
