Moving Kits Once you’ve decided to move, you should look into moving kits for the supplies you need. More often than not, moving kits are offered at discount rates. If you were to purchase these items individually, you would end up spending more and possibly, missing some supplies. A moving kit is a great way of getting everything you need to move at a great price. Properly Packing Boxes Keep in mind that your movers will more than likely inspect your boxes for safety reasons. On moving day, be sure to single out which boxes require careful handling as you go through your inventory. Movers will also point out any boxes they think aren’t properly packed. If this happens, the mover will likely suggest that the boxes in question need to be repacked or reinforced. And label your boxes with which room they are to go into at destination. This will help during the unpacking as the boxes will be in the correct area. Loading the Trailer If you’re loading your boxes into a truck, be sure to get the heavier items inside first and the lighter items towards the back of the truck. This will prevent your truck from being unbalanced. Also, load the truck a quarter at a time and fit everything as tightly together as possible. Number by Priority One way of prioritizing your items for the move is by assigning numbers from most important to least important. Mark a 1 on all of your boxes that contain items you need immediately or on a regular basis. You should mark a 2 on boxes that have items you won't be using right away, but possibly within a month or so such as books and movies. A 3 should be assigned to seasonal items, and 4 for the items meant for storage.
