Preparing Pots and Pans for Moving Although pots and pans vary in size, you can usually nest about three of each together in a single carton. Make sure you have large enough pieces of packing paper to cover the entire interior of your largest pan and leave some cushioning on the bottom of the crate. The first pot or pan you place inside the box should be the smallest in size. The pan or pot should be upside down with several sheets of packing paper on top of it before you stack the next one. Once you've stacked three, fill the spaces with packing material to prevent shifting. Helping the Kids Adjust Kids can have a lot of difficulty adjusting to the idea of moving. You can make the process enjoyable for the kids by planning and packing with them. If it's possible, give them a blueprint or a sketch of their new rooms. Ask your kids what they would like to do with their rooms like colors and designs. Sit down and go through their toys. Let your kids decide what they want to keep and what they want to throw away. By getting them involved, your kids will not only feel better, they might even be enthused about living in a new place. Holiday Moving Woes Moving during the holidays can be a depressing affair. You and you family may miss the familiar surroundings, people, and annual celebrations. There are several steps you can take to mitigate the emotional distance and feeling of loss you're experiencing. One method is by keeping familiar things around you, say objects from your loved ones around. Hang up ornaments your mother passed on to you. Also, getting out of the house can be very therapeutic. Go participate in the different festivals and celebrations that are taking place in your new city. Not only will it help you familiarize yourself with the new area, it opens up opportunities to meet new people. Save Money, Eat In Moving takes a lot of time, especially packing. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't take some time to cook your own food. Eating fast food can be expensive, particularly if you're doing it day after day. This is also the best time for you to eat all of your frozen food given that perishable items can't be transported by movers. Also, canned food is a pain to pack and transport. You should finish them off as well.
