Registering In a New State When you’re moving long distance, you should prioritize what items should be packed first amongst other considerations. Registering your car is also something to be aware of since you’ll assumedly be crossing into another state. Remember that each state has its own set of rules in terms of vehicle registration and tags, so be sure to research it prior to your move. That way, you can take the necessary steps once you’re there.
Packing Your Kitchen Kitchen appliances and utensils can be sharp or blunt, and you should cover your bases when you’re packing these items. One great precautionary measure you can take is by using bubble wrap to protect these items during transit. If you’re saving your bubble wrap for more fragile items, you can use hand towels to wrap them individually.
Accidents on the Road Most moving companies have a claim form that you can fill out in the event of any possible damages your belongings may have sustained during transit.
Packing Your Table Lamps When packing your table lamp, make sure you have an adequately sized box to accommodate it. If you can't find a carton that fits the size of your lamp, a dishpack carton will work as a substitute. Make sure you line the bottom of the box you're using with enough cushioning. So before you start packing your table lamp, remove the bulb and the lampshade. Wrap the lamp's cord around the base. Avoid using packing tape as it may strip the paint or outer coating of your lamp. Afterwards, cover the lamp in bubble wrap and fold over the edges on the top and bottom before you tape. Put the lamp in the box and fill any spaces with extra bubble wrap to prevent shifting during transit.

Near end of move, was told truck wasn\'t big enough. They made NO attempt to get another truck. I had to be out of house that day and had no time to get someone else. Ended up loosing thousands of $ of furnishings. When I e-mailed all the people I had dealt with and told them of dissatisfaction, no one even bothered to contact me. And, they overcharged me by not deducting my deposit from my payment. Very dissatisfied, very stressful. 2 Men & A Truck asked what all I was moving and I walked thru the house telling them of everything. PT Movers did not ask. 2 Men couldn\'t do move when I needed it done. If movers had loaded truck properly, it would not have been an issue. 2.0000

I moved from Marietta, GA, to Tullahoma, TN, and things couldn\'t have been better. They showed up on time, they loaded everything within the estimated timeframe, and they delivered everything the next morning, just as scheduled. Many thanks to Greg Gainey for his estimating skills, and to John, Mark and Chris for taking good care of my furniture during the move. By the way, this is the second time I\'ve used TM&T, and the second time I was very pleased with the results. 5.0000

They are corrupt and wrong. Fine a moving company that is sincere and honest. 1.0000

A-Dependable Movers Evan M 20 Sep 2010 I have a contract with Worldwide Van Lines for $1700 to move m... I have a contract with Worldwide Van Lines for $1700 to move my stuff from Atlanta GA to Golden CO (a $400 deposit, and $1300 more on delivery in CO.) World wide Van lines said they should arrive in CO 5 to 6 days after they picked it up, but the contract said they have 30 days. World Wide Van Lines brokered the contract to Revlon Movers Inc AKA Dependable movers, and Dependable Movers inc picked up my stuff on 7-29-10. Ken called me to assist getting the movers to my house in GA. In person they assured me it wouldn’t be more than a week and my stuff would arrive in CO. (pickup was in a U-Hall rental truck and delivery was in a smaller Ryder rental truck.) They never contacted me again until I called Worldwide van lines on 8-3 to get an ETA. I left a message at 866-539-9985. Finally, after 6 days and 6 more messages I got a call back a rep from Worldwide van lines said it would be here in a week and to call Ken, I then called Ken(the dispatcher for Revlon/dependable Movers,) he said “next week” and that happened every week, for 3 weeks. Finally on 8-31 (33 days after pickup) I got a call and he said it was now going to cost me $2127.00 in total, And I had to have $1727 in cashiers checks to pay the driver, because I was 1200lbs over weight. I argued they were so late they were going to interfere with a trip I had planned for months and I didn’t agree with that weight. He reduced it to $1527. The next morning when the movers arrived at my place in CO they were in a smaller rental truck than what they picked up in. They opened the back and it wasn’t my stuff. The driver said that was someone else’s stuff they were going to deliver later and they were going to set it to the side to unpack my stuff. I asked them to show me the weights of the truck and they produced some documents saying that a truck (nothing showing what specific truck it is) weighted 12860lbs in Terrell TX on 8-9-10 and another document showing the weight of a truck in Atlanta GA on 8-29-10 at 18580 lbs. I told them this was not acceptable and they told me to call Ken in Atlanta. I kept these papers, I then called the dispatcher from Revlon and he swore he wasn’t trying to rip me off that that is the weight, I told him I wanted the truck weighted in my presence. He told me if I didn’t pay the 1527 to them now, I would never see my stuff again. We argued and he then asked to speak to his movers in the truckt(their phone’s bettery died,) after which the guys left with the truck still loaded. I called him back again, and said I would pay, just get the guys back right now, and he then stopped taking my calls. After several hours he called back and said they would put my stuff in storage until I got back from CA since I was leaving that evening. I have been back from CA since 9-7-10 and call him everyday, and call Worldwide van lines everyday, but no one calls me back, and you cant leave a message at the number for the dispatcher 404-641-9725. I want my stuff delivered at the agreed upon price or less, for all the inconvenience and pain this has caused. I want this company fined or prosecuted in some way and I would like to see this on a national news show so other people don’t get swindled like this. I have filed complaints with the BBB, the Dept of Trasportation, the Attorney Generals office, USAA insurance, and Tried to contact the police, but they say it is a civil matter. My understanding of the interstate law, from the dept of transportation website, the company can only charge 10% more than the original non binding estimate/contract. They are supposed to provide a re-weigh of the truck in your presence, and they cannot hold your belongings hostage. All of which this company has done, as well as being past the 30day delivery window when they first showed up in CO on 9-1-10 and now I still don’t have my stuff! If anyone knows of anything else I can do, please let me know! BTW the company is: Dependable Mover 4540 Memorial Dr d14 30032 Phone 404-641-9725 AKA Revlon Movers Inc. 3255 Lawrenceville Suwanee rd suite P-301 Suwanee GA, 30024 And: Worldwide Van Lines 16192 Coastal Hwy Lewes, DE 19958 There are other complaints I found after the fact. http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=dependable+movers+GA&fb=1&gl=us&hq=dependable+movers&hnear=Georgia&cid=15065917808313196205 and http://www.ripoffreport.com/District-Attorneys-Assistant-DA/Nationwide-Moving-Se/nationwide-moving-services-llc-c2wec.htm But the BBB said this: Your complaint has been applied to the following business:World Wide Van Lines, LLC600 Linton Blvd., Suite 201-B Delray Beach, FL 33444 Update on 9-16-10 I spoke to the mover today, and he said he will not give me my stuff until I pay him, I told him I st 1.0000
