Moving Tips
Fill Out Your Prescription
Do you have prescription medication you need to take on a routine basis? Be sure to fill out your prescription before you move so that you don’t have to worry about it. On moving day, make sure your medication is separated from your other items so that they don’t get mixed with everything else being loaded onto the truck.
The Price Isn't Always Right
Low cost movers do exist as impossible as it may seem. Unfortunately, like all good things, it requires a little time and searching on your part. Keep in mind however, just because a carrier is offering a ridiculously low cost estimate, that doesn’t make them the best choice. Referrals, reviews, and investigation are still needed for the final verdict.
Moving Your Fish
It's important not to feed your fish for several days prior to the move. This is to insure that your pets' digestive systems are cleared and won't contaminate the water; fish tend to excrete a lot when they're stressed. Have a large cooler prepared for transporting your fish in their respective plastic baggies. Make sure to secure the bags with rubber bands.
When Moving Your Piano
When preparing to move your piano, there are a few things you should keep in mind before you start. First, you should know the approximate weight of your instrument. Baby grand pianos weigh around 500 to 800 pounds, and longer grand pianos can weigh up to 1200 pounds respectively. You should never rely on the piano's casters to move the piano as most are simply meant for decorative purposes. By forcing the casters to move across your floor, you risk jamming the casters, possibly tearing and gouging your carpet or floor. A 4-wheel piano dolly is absolutely essential.
