Moving Tips
Registering In a New State
When you’re moving long distance, you should prioritize what items should be packed first amongst other considerations. Registering your car is also something to be aware of since you’ll assumedly be crossing into another state. Remember that each state has its own set of rules in terms of vehicle registration and tags, so be sure to research it prior to your move. That way, you can take the necessary steps once you’re there.
Packing Clothes
When it comes to your clothes, there are a variety of different ways to pack them. For your daily clothes that you wear at home, you can simply fold and put them in plastic or vacuum-sealed bags. For your work clothes and more expensive garments, you should consider purchasing wardrobe boxes with hanging bars. Protective plastic covers are also a good investment for jackets and dresses.
Packing Your Lamp Shadees
Your lamp shades should be packed in a separate box from your lamps. Avoid using newspaper as stuffing material as the ink may cause stains on your shades. Use clean packing paper or bubble wrap to protect your lamp shades' linings. Try stacking your lamp shades into a single, large carton with packing material between each.
Moving for Your Job
If you're moving because of your job, here are a few expenses you should be aware of: temporary lodging costs, travel costs, find a home, packing and moving costs. Typically, these are covered in the case of a corporate relocation. Don't hesitate to inquire about paid time-off if to search for a home in the new city.
