Preparing the Pets Have you made arrangements for your pets? Consider visiting the vet before moving day. Be sure to take this opportunity to get your pet’s veterinary records. You don’t want to leave it to the last minute. Organizing Packing Boxes Once you’ve figured out all of the packing supplies you will need, try grouping similar-sized boxes together. You should have separate piles designated for certain items. This way, you won’t have to sort through heavy piles for a particular box you need. Furniture Placement Before you move into your new home, you should look around for anything that may impact your furniture placement. Some examples of this include: built-in bookshelves, wainscoting, radiators, vents, columns, and fireplaces. Moving Pets by Plane This may seem obvious, but you should try to book a direct flight for your pet to minimize the time your pet spends sitting outside. Some of the times you will need to have handy in order to transport your pet include a health certificate from the vet and a pet container. Some airlines offer their own container which meets airline regulations. Be sure to check with your airline of choice beforehand. Also, a good way to reassure and comfort your pet for the flight is by giving it something you wear, such as an old sweater.
