Registering In a New State When you’re moving long distance, you should prioritize what items should be packed first amongst other considerations. However, you can get the same assurance in terms of accommodations for shipping fragile belongings with any mover. Make sure to clearly mark which items require special handling and attention for your movers. Moving Out of Your Apartment? Regardless of whether or not you're on a month-to-month lease, you should give an official written notice of your move-out date at least a month in advance. This is standard procedure and it can give you and your landlord sufficient time to settle matters such as your security deposit. If you're on a full-term lease, you may be liable for an early termination penalty. If it's possible, schedule your move-out date around the same time as the end of your lease to avoid paying for the penalty.
