Preparing the Pets Have you made arrangements for your pets? Consider visiting the vet before moving day. Be sure to take this opportunity to get your pet’s veterinary records. You don’t want to leave it to the last minute. Packing Your Lamp Shadees Your lamp shades should be packed in a separate box from your lamps. Avoid using newspaper as stuffing material as the ink may cause stains on your shades. Use clean packing paper or bubble wrap to protect your lamp shades' linings. Try stacking your lamp shades into a single, large carton with packing material between each. Transporting Medicine Before you pack your medicine for moving, seal all of the caps with masking tape. Naturally, your medicine bottles should be packed in an upright position. For certain drugs such as insulin, exposure to heat can cause it to lose potency. Talk to your pharmacist and inquire about what measures you can take to prevent this. It's recommended that you transport your own medication. Taking Out Shelves Anything with shelves should be removed from their respective pieces of furniture before you move. This includes bookcases, television stands, curio and china cabinets, and hutches. Be sure to keep your shelf pins together in the same plastic bag once you're done.
