Packing for College Moving to college is an exciting time for every inexperienced young person looking to leave the family fold. Due to this, would-be college students often go overboard when they’re deciding what to bring with them. When you’re moving to college, think about the bare essentials and what’s already been provided: a desk, mini-fridge, bed, bookcase, coat hangers, etc. Be sure to find out what is acceptable and what isn’t prior to moving in. Keep your toothbrush, soap, and shampoo in a separate bag or container so you can use it when you need it. Basic Furniture Moving When moving furniture, make sure to remove any glass surfaces and pack them separately. Wrap them in moving pads to prevent any possible damage during transit. Never slide or drag your furniture along hardwood floors; carpeted dollies or furniture glides are a good investment for moving heavy pieces of furniture. Moving Into the City If you're moving into an urban environment for the first time, there are a few things you should be prepared for. Parking is one factor you should take into consideration. If you're relocating to a dense city where parking is typically a premium, be sure to check in advance about any restrictions you may encounter on moving day. Also, if you're moving into an apartment complex, you should keep security in mind. Leaving the door propped open can pose a risk to your neighbors.
