Packing Crystal and Glassware Every piece of crystal and glassware should be individually covered with bubble wrap. If you pack more than one piece of crystal or glassware into a single box, go ahead and use dividers to prevent your items from bumping into each other during transit. You should also cushion the bottom of the box with a layer of materials such as extra bubble wrap or packing peanuts. Padded dish boxes work very well for transporting crystal or glassware. Be sure to mark “Fragile” and “This Side Up” on the box for the movers. Separating Boxes Be sure to separate any boxes you plan on transporting yourself and mark “Do Not Load” so your movers will know. Jewelry For your jewelry, it would be in your best interest to invest in a security box for safekeeping, preferably one with a lock. You should also get your expensive jewelry appraised and if you haven’t already, possibly insured before any large scale moves. Not many people know how to safely pass a big rig or what to do when a truck is preparing to make a wide turn. If you're moving in a passenger vehicle, you should keep a few things in mind. Always pass on the left side of a big rig. A large truck requires more stopping distance than a car, so try to maintain a fair amount of distance between the both of you if you're ahead.
