Stocking Up On Supplies You can find commercial moving supplies almost anywhere, from your local drugstores and supermarkets to moving storage buildings and truck rental places. Make sure to stock up on packing tape, boxes, box-cutters, labels, packing peanuts, and bubble wrap. Oftentimes, you can sell back any extra boxes or items you have left over. Packing Clothes When it comes to your clothes, there are a variety of different ways to pack them. For your daily clothes that you wear at home, you can simply fold and put them in plastic or vacuum-sealed bags. For your work clothes and more expensive garments, you should consider purchasing wardrobe boxes with hanging bars. Protective plastic covers are also a good investment for jackets and dresses. Short on Boxes? If you find yourself short on boxes, you can always acquire heavier carton boxes from liquor stores, super markets, paper warehouses or mail order supply houses. Some moving supply companies offer used boxes for lower prices as well. Preparing Pots and Pans for Moving Although pots and pans vary in size, you can usually nest about three of each together in a single carton. Make sure you have large enough pieces of packing paper to cover the entire interior of your largest pan and leave some cushioning on the bottom of the crate. The first pot or pan you place inside the box should be the smallest in size. The pan or pot should be upside down with several sheets of packing paper on top of it before you stack the next one. Once you've stacked three, fill the spaces with packing material to prevent shifting.
