Moving Tips
Moving Kits
Once you’ve decided to move, you should look into moving kits for the supplies you need. More often than not, moving kits are offered at discount rates. If you were to purchase these items individually, you would end up spending more and possibly, missing some supplies. A moving kit is a great way of getting everything you need to move at a great price.
Furniture Placement
Before you move into your new home, you should look around for anything that may impact your furniture placement. Some examples of this include: built-in bookshelves, wainscoting, radiators, vents, columns, and fireplaces.
Moving Into the City
If you're moving into an urban environment for the first time, there are a few things you should be prepared for. Parking is one factor you should take into consideration. If you're relocating to a dense city where parking is typically a premium, be sure to check in advance about any restrictions you may encounter on moving day. Also, if you're moving into an apartment complex, you should keep security in mind. Leaving the door propped open can pose a risk to your neighbors.
Moving Out of Your Apartment?
Regardless of whether or not you're on a month-to-month lease, you should give an official written notice of your move-out date at least a month in advance. This is standard procedure and it can give you and your landlord sufficient time to settle matters such as your security deposit. If you're on a full-term lease, you may be liable for an early termination penalty. If it's possible, schedule your move-out date around the same time as the end of your lease to avoid paying for the penalty.
