Using Your Old Shoeboxes For shoe aficionados, if you’ve kept the original shoeboxes that your collection of shoes came with, moving them will be that much easier. Not only will it save you from purchasing new boxes, it’ll also prevent any visual damage to your footwear. If you don’t have the shoeboxes your shoes came in, don’t stack them all into a single box without wrapping them in some protective cover individually. Oil Paintings Oil paintings require special handling when you move. Be sure to use non-acidic plastic wrap for the painting before wrapping it again with protective material such as bubble wrap. And just to make sure your painting is well-protected during transit, get a picture box to pack it in. Organizing Packing Boxes Once you’ve figured out all of the packing supplies you will need, try grouping similar-sized boxes together. You should have separate piles designated for certain items. This way, you won’t have to sort through heavy piles for a particular box you need. Transporting Medicine Before you pack your medicine for moving, seal all of the caps with masking tape. Naturally, your medicine bottles should be packed in an upright position. For certain drugs such as insulin, exposure to heat can cause it to lose potency. Talk to your pharmacist and inquire about what measures you can take to prevent this. It's recommended that you transport your own medication.
