Allied Van Lines
Naturally, companies like Allied Van Lines that operate on a larger scale will likely have different moving rates for different services, international shipping rates for moving abroad, long distance rates for cross country moves, and so on. As a prospective customer, you'll need to know what these moving rates are comprised of in order to shave off any extraneous charges and get the most affordable price for your move.
Moving Tips
Return Before Take Off
If you’ve rented videos at the local video shop, checked out library books, or have clothes at the dry cleaners, make a note to yourself to take care of these items before you leave.
Packing Crystal and Glassware
Every piece of crystal and glassware should be individually covered with bubble wrap. If you pack more than one piece of crystal or glassware into a single box, go ahead and use dividers to prevent your items from bumping into each other during transit. You should also cushion the bottom of the box with a layer of materials such as extra bubble wrap or packing peanuts. Padded dish boxes work very well for transporting crystal or glassware. Be sure to mark “Fragile” and “This Side Up” on the box for the movers.
Packing Your Kitchen
Kitchen appliances and utensils can be sharp or blunt, and you should cover your bases when you’re packing these items. One great precautionary measure you can take is by using bubble wrap to protect these items during transit. If you’re saving your bubble wrap for more fragile items, you can use hand towels to wrap them individually.
Organizing Packing Boxes
Once you’ve figured out all of the packing supplies you will need, try grouping similar-sized boxes together. You should have separate piles designated for certain items. This way, you won’t have to sort through heavy piles for a particular box you need.
