Items Not Recommended To Move The following are items you should not leave for the movers to transport: -Financial documents -Certificates of deposit -IRA’s-Stocks-Bonds-Airline tickets-Car keys-Address books-Checkbook-Computer disk storage-Family photographs-Wedding albums-Personal video tapes-Insurance policies-Deeds-Prescription medications-Medical and dental records-School records-Documents pertaining to new home-Open containers such as shampoos, dish soap, and liquor are not recommended because they may leak.-Candles are not recommended because they may melt and cause damage to other property. Loading the Trailer If you’re loading your boxes into a truck, be sure to get the heavier items inside first and the lighter items towards the back of the truck. This will prevent your truck from being unbalanced. Also, load the truck a quarter at a time and fit everything as tightly together as possible. Oil Paintings Oil paintings require special handling when you move. Be sure to use non-acidic plastic wrap for the painting before wrapping it again with protective material such as bubble wrap. And just to make sure your painting is well-protected during transit, get a picture box to pack it in. Organizing Packing Boxes Once you’ve figured out all of the packing supplies you will need, try grouping similar-sized boxes together. You should have separate piles designated for certain items. This way, you won’t have to sort through heavy piles for a particular box you need.
