Doctor's Orders If you’re moving to a completely different city, be sure to ask your doctor or your health insurance company to refer a care provider for you. Clean Out the Fridge Have you taken care of your refrigerator? Remember, you need to empty, defrost, and clean it out before the movers can load it. We recommend that you unplug your refrigerator and freezer at least 24 hours in advance before loading day. Leave the doors open so that they may come up to room temperature and air dry. Separating Boxes Be sure to separate any boxes you plan on transporting yourself and mark “Do Not Load” so your movers will know. Jewelry For your jewelry, it would be in your best interest to invest in a security box for safekeeping, preferably one with a lock. You should also get your expensive jewelry appraised and if you haven’t already, possibly insured before any large scale moves. Keep in mind that the security box should be small enough for you to transport yourself.
