Packing Crystal and Glassware Every piece of crystal and glassware should be individually covered with bubble wrap. If you pack more than one piece of crystal or glassware into a single box, go ahead and use dividers to prevent your items from bumping into each other during transit. You should also cushion the bottom of the box with a layer of materials such as extra bubble wrap or packing peanuts. Padded dish boxes work very well for transporting crystal or glassware. Be sure to mark “Fragile” and “This Side Up” on the box for the movers. Plastic Durability If you have any plastic kitchen containers such as Tupperware, you can use these to protect your smaller more fragile items. If you want to insure a more shock-absorbent capacity, you can double-box the containers before placing your items inside. Basic Furniture Moving When moving furniture, make sure to remove any glass surfaces and pack them separately. Wrap them in moving pads to prevent any possible damage during transit. Never slide or drag your furniture along hardwood floors; carpeted dollies or furniture glides are a good investment for moving heavy pieces of furniture. Moving Pets by Plane This may seem obvious, but you should try to book a direct flight for your pet to minimize the time your pet spends sitting outside. Some of the times you will need to have handy in order to transport your pet include a health certificate from the vet and a pet container. Some airlines offer their own container which meets airline regulations. Be sure to check with your airline of choice beforehand. Also, a good way to reassure and comfort your pet for the flight is by giving it something you wear, such as an old sweater.
