For Containers Only Pack your containers accordingly by sealing any open containers to prevent spilling. If you have any ceramic containers, make sure to remove the lids and wrap them separately, especially since they’re so fragile. You should make sure that any liquids that you’re transporting aren’t toxic, corrosive, or flammable. Removing the Weights in a Grandfather Clock If you can’t afford to hire a clock specialist to service your grandfather clock, you can carefully remove the weights yourself. You should always don cotton gloves before you change/remove anything inside the clock. Remove the weights piece by piece and note each of their respective positions so you can reinstall them in the correct order. If the weights are suspended by cables, break off an adequately-sized piece of Styrofoam, cut a slit through the middle, and fit the Styrofoam around the pulley. This way, it'll prevent any damage your pulleys may receive during transit. Afterwards, remove the weights. Moving Pets by Plane This may seem obvious, but you should try to book a direct flight for your pet to minimize the time your pet spends sitting outside. Some of the times you will need to have handy in order to transport your pet include a health certificate from the vet and a pet container. Some airlines offer their own container which meets airline regulations. Be sure to check with your airline of choice beforehand. Also, a good way to reassure and comfort your pet for the flight is by giving it something you wear, such as an old sweater. Moving Into the City If you're moving into an urban environment for the first time, there are a few things you should be prepared for. Parking is one factor you should take into consideration. If you're relocating to a dense city where parking is typically a premium, be sure to check in advance about any restrictions you may encounter on moving day. Also, if you're moving into an apartment complex, you should keep security in mind. Leaving the door propped open can pose a risk to your neighbors.
