Buyer beware. This company opperates under various names, and does not stand by its estimates. They charged us over 2x more than the initial quote, would not discuss the details, and held our items for ransom until we paid. Do not use them for anything.
They are located at 140 58th St, Brooklyn, NY 11220. Phone 718-439-6630 or toll free 888-239-6683.
I used Arrow Moving for ma move of a bedroom set from PA to NY on 11/29/10. I contacted them and had been speaking to Dennis for over a week. Dennis had a heavy Brooklyn accent and was very friendly and accomodating. He advide me of all the details and also said that Arrow was ma family owned business that didnt play games and there were no hidden charges. The email quote provided was for $570.03 plus tolls. Dennis advised I would be charged for only the travel time from PA to NY, plus an hour to load and an hour to unload, in addition to the tolls. It was understood that if the movers got delayed by traffic, I could be liable for a few hundered more, as they are paid by the hour. He also said they accepted cash only. This should have clued me in as most business' that only accept cash are shady, however he was very personable and seemed trustworthy so I booked the move. Come moving day, 11/29/10, the movers hadnt arrived in PA at the designated time so I called Dennis. Dennis was not available but the woman who answered the phone told me the movers were stuck in traffic and would be a bit late. They arrived about 50 minutes late, and loaded the truck within 40 minutes. They were to arrive in NY about 3 hours later. While waiting for them to arrive, I took out $850 in cash from the bank which should have more than covered the move and a nice tip for the moving men. Four hours later when the movers hadnt arrived I called into the office and asked for Dennis. The guy that answered the phone told me that Dennis wasnt around but the movers got stuck in traffic but should be here soon. He also tells me that the bill for the move is 1200 plus tax and tolls! At this point I am inj shock as this is more than twice as much as they had quoted me. I ask them to explain to me how this is possible. My husband is freaking out- he does the math and theres no way this shold cost so much. Of course the guy we are talking to in the office says we can no longer speak to Dennis- he tells my husband we must pay or they will keep our furniture. He then hung up on my husband and called his men who were now waiting in front of my home. He told them that we would have to pay before they unloaded anything, and if we didnt that they would bring the items to their Brookly warehouse and be sole at autction! The man in the office and the 3 guys in the truck all have heavy accents (Russian I believe). They will not listen to reason, nor pay attention to the quote I have in hand pulled from email. Although "Dennis" from Brooklyn worked the deal and had answered the phone personally for 2 weeks, we were not allowed to speak with him. They made us pay before we could even inspect the delivery- Dont be fooled. Next time I will deal with a well known nationwide moving company instead of a company of theives acting like they are running their own little mafia. Its a shame, because I am sure that there are some good family owned business' out there, and guys like this ruin it for everyone. They did deliver- and the pickup and setup went well, so if you dont care what it costs, and dont mind highway robbery, then these are the guys you want handling your move. They get a negative star rating from me!
