Items Not Recommended To Move The following are items you should not leave for the movers to transport: -Financial documents -Certificates of deposit -IRA’s-Stocks-Bonds-Airline tickets-Car keys-Address books-Checkbook-Computer disk storage-Family photographs-Wedding albums-Personal video tapes-Insurance policies-Deeds-Prescription medications-Medical and dental records-School records-Documents pertaining to new home-Open containers such as shampoos, dish soap, and liquor are not recommended because they may leak.-Candles are not recommended because they may melt and cause damage to other property. Your Relocation List Once you’ve decided that you’ll be moving, it’s time to plan out your steps by making a list. In the same vein as a to-do list, you should start separating different tasks such as packing order, contacting your primary care provider, transferring records, discontinuing utilities, and everything else by a weekly breakdown. Don’t be afraid to add more things as you go along, and by the time moving day arrives, you’ll be prepared to move in without any reservations as to whether or not you’ve missed any crucial details. Packing Your Table Lamps When packing your table lamp, make sure you have an adequately sized box to accommodate it. If you can't find a carton that fits the size of your lamp, a dishpack carton will work as a substitute. Make sure you line the bottom of the box you're using with enough cushioning. So before you start packing your table lamp, remove the bulb and the lampshade. Wrap the lamp's cord around the base. Avoid using packing tape as it may strip the paint or outer coating of your lamp. Afterwards, cover the lamp in bubble wrap and fold over the edges on the top and bottom before you tape. Put the lamp in the box and fill any spaces with extra bubble wrap to prevent shifting during transit. Moving Your Fish It's important not to feed your fish for several days prior to the move. This is to insure that your pets' digestive systems are cleared and won't contaminate the water; fish tend to excrete a lot when they're stressed. Have a large cooler prepared for transporting your fish in their respective plastic baggies. Make sure to secure the bags with rubber bands.
