Moving Tips
Taking Inventory
Taking inventory is a great way of organizing and managing all of the different tasks you have to keep track of, and if you format it in a checklist style, you can easily separate the things you have yet to do and what you’ve already completed. Also, make note of the conditions of your belongings so that you have something to refer to once your belongings have been transported to your new home.
Packing Your Printer or Scanner
Any remote devices you may use with your computer, such as your printer and scanner, should be packed separately in their own boxes. Be sure to disconnect their respective cables and cords. If you don’t have the original boxes for these devices, pick an appropriately sized box for each and fill it with protective material to prevent any possible damage during transportation.
Packing Your Mirrors
Packing mirrors require special attention. You can safely wrap your mirrors in tissue paper or cover the mirror face with masking tape. However, if you have more expensive mirrors to move, you should consider investing in boxes that are specifically designed for transporting mirrors.
Return Before Take Off
If you’ve rented videos at the local video shop, checked out library books, or have clothes at the dry cleaners, make a note to yourself to take care of these items before you leave.
