Packing Clothes When it comes to your clothes, there are a variety of different ways to pack them. For your daily clothes that you wear at home, you can simply fold and put them in plastic or vacuum-sealed bags. For your work clothes and more expensive garments, you should consider purchasing wardrobe boxes with hanging bars. Protective plastic covers are also a good investment for jackets and dresses. Small-engine Vehicle Storage If you own an ATV, motorcycle, or some kind of small-engine vehicle, there are certain things you need to keep in mind before you store them into a self-storage facility. For one, licensed vehicles such as motorcycles require updated tags, otherwise your self-storage facility may not allow you to store your vehicle. Help Your Movers You should try to arrive at your new home before your movers do so that you can oversee the unloading process, and also to help them out as much as you can. A great way to help them figure out which boxes go where is by taping names to the doors. Also, try mapping out the floor plans of your new house so they know where to go. Preparing Pots and Pans for Moving Although pots and pans vary in size, you can usually nest about three of each together in a single carton. Make sure you have large enough pieces of packing paper to cover the entire interior of your largest pan and leave some cushioning on the bottom of the crate. The first pot or pan you place inside the box should be the smallest in size. The pan or pot should be upside down with several sheets of packing paper on top of it before you stack the next one. Once you've stacked three, fill the spaces with packing material to prevent shifting.
