Items Not Recommended To Move The following are items you should not leave for the movers to transport: -Financial documents -Certificates of deposit -IRA’s-Stocks-Bonds-Airline tickets-Car keys-Address books-Checkbook-Computer disk storage-Family photographs-Wedding albums-Personal video tapes-Insurance policies-Deeds-Prescription medications-Medical and dental records-School records-Documents pertaining to new home-Open containers such as shampoos, dish soap, and liquor are not recommended because they may leak.-Candles are not recommended because they may melt and cause damage to other property. Packing Your Table Lamps When packing your table lamp, make sure you have an adequately sized box to accommodate it. If you can't find a carton that fits the size of your lamp, a dishpack carton will work as a substitute. Make sure you line the bottom of the box you're using with enough cushioning. So before you start packing your table lamp, remove the bulb and the lampshade. Wrap the lamp's cord around the base. Avoid using packing tape as it may strip the paint or outer coating of your lamp. Afterwards, cover the lamp in bubble wrap and fold over the edges on the top and bottom before you tape. Put the lamp in the box and fill any spaces with extra bubble wrap to prevent shifting during transit. Tipping Your Movers Movers have it rough. Sure, it's a part of their job description when they're lugging your sofa into the truck, but that doesn't make their job any less difficult. Most people don't know that it's common courtesy to tip their movers, especially since you'll have to pay a substantial sum for the move, but it doesn't have to be some extravagant sum. It's recommended that you don't tip any less than twenty dollars to your movers if they've performed their job well. Moving In a Passenger Car What most people don't know is that most car accidents that involve a large truck are often caused by the smaller vehicle. Not many people know how to safely pass a big rig or what to do when a truck is preparing to make a wide turn. If you're moving in a passenger vehicle, you should keep a few things in mind. Always pass on the left side of a big rig. A large truck requires more stopping distance than a car, so try to maintain a fair amount of distance between the both of you if you're ahead.
