Packing Electronics Some basic things to take care of as you pack your electronics include ejecting any cassettes, compact discs, videotapes, or DVDs out of their players. If you’re planning on putting your electronics in storage for a long-term period, don’t use plastic as this could potentially cause damage to them by trapping moisture inside. Using the original boxes is often your best option because the boxes are already fitted for the specific dimensions of your electronics.
Moving Kits Once you’ve decided to move, you should look into moving kits for the supplies you need. More often than not, moving kits are offered at discount rates. If you were to purchase these items individually, you would end up spending more and possibly, missing some supplies. A moving kit is a great way of getting everything you need to move at a great price.
Tipping Your Movers Movers have it rough. Sure, it's a part of their job description when they're lugging your sofa into the truck, but that doesn't make their job any less difficult. Most people don't know that it's common courtesy to tip their movers, especially since you'll have to pay a substantial sum for the move, but it doesn't have to be some extravagant sum. It's recommended that you don't tip any less than twenty dollars to your movers if they've performed their job well.
Save Money, Eat In Moving takes a lot of time, especially packing. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't take some time to cook your own food. Eating fast food can be expensive, particularly if you're doing it day after day. This is also the best time for you to eat all of your frozen food given that perishable items can't be transported by movers. Also, canned food is a pain to pack and transport. You should finish them off as well.

Dearman Moving Company also does business as United, Mayflower and Buckeye Moving and Storage in Mansfield Ohio. We went through one of the worst experiences with Dearman Moving and Storage! Tim one of the owners did not send enough packing supplies or big enough trucks. Peggy in costumer service is as sweet as pie but she is defiantly a manipulator puppet for Tim. I was shocked to see most of my furniture damaged and Dunn\'s repair company did an awful job. None of the repairs match on the original color of the wood. I would watch out for these hacks! 1.0000

Dearman Moving & Storage Anonymous 4 Jan 2011 The quality of the packing was poor, and as a result, items we... The quality of the packing was poor, and as a result, items were damaged. The examples given included the following items being packed in a large box: Table Lamp(glass base), Dust Buster, PlayStation Console, Leg Weights, and a ceramic decorative bowl. The item damaged as a result of this poor packing was our expensive table lamp which now has a shattered base. In addition, we had (4) Reidel wine glasses, valued at $25/glass that were packed in the same box as heavy ceramic kitchen bowls and plates. Again, as a result, were cracked/shattered.\\r\\n\\r\\nWhile unpacking, it was very difficult to locate items as the boxes were not clearly marked. It took us nearly a week to find our coffee maker because it was packed in smaller box, inside of a box of dishes.\\r\\n\\r\\nIn addition, furniture items were not properly padded, therefore they were damaged in the move. Most notably our sofa table, which now has a cracked front right corner. In addition, our bedroom armoire was not completely padded/wrapped and the movers had difficulty getting it down the stairs, therefore, this suffered several large scratches on the front doors. \\r\\n\\r\\nIf these items had been properly packed, these damages could’ve been avoided. Furthermore, lamps were not boxed, only partially wrapped with blankets, and our dining room table was not padded as requested multiple times. The overall quality of packing was unsatisfactory.\\r\\n\\r\\nIn addition to damaged items, the loading of the truck was an issue. First of all, the overseer (Chris) of the move continued to complain that he did not have his “regular” guys to do the move and was short a loader. As a result, the move was very time consuming. Toward the end of the move, when it was apparent that there would not be enough room on the truck, I inquired as to how the rest of the items were going to fit on the truck. At this time, the Chris advised he would have to contact his manager to get instruction how to proceed. It was determined that another truck would need to be used and the rest of the items would be load the following morning. I informed Chris that we were promised that the load would be completed in one day and we had committed to the new owner that we would vacate on *** and now we had to get approval to do so. This caused a great deal of inconvenience to all parties. We had to spend the night in a hotel, which was a direct cost to us due to this inconvenience as well as delay our departure to ******\\r\\nFurthermore, when the estimate of the move was made by Chris Campbell, items that were included in the estimate were a full size washer & dryer unit and a 12 foot entertainment console. These items were not included in the move and the truck was still insufficient for all of our items. This was a big error that cost us both money and time.\\r\\n\\r\\nOn the delivery of our items, the inventory list was not utilized at all. I was unaware of this part of the process, therefore I never inquired. It was brought to my attention at the end of the move when I was asked to sign off on all of the items as being received, which I did because at that point it was too late to say otherwise.\\r\\n\\r\\nOverall, this was a very poor experience and I would not recommend this company to anyone else. \\r\\n\\r\\nThey never responded to any of my letters or phone calls, which makes it ever worse. 1.0000

Mills Van Lines Inc David Orosz 17 Nov 2010 On July 22nd Mills Van lines moved my neighbor into their hous... On July 22nd Mills Van lines moved my neighbor into their house, unfortunately while positioning their truck they jumped the curb in front of my house and did damage to my lawn and driveway. When I contacted Robert Mills he passed me off to a Kelly Mills who informed me they weren\'t liable because they were regulated by the US DOT. When I informed her the US DOT has no authority over my private property and they (Mills) they had no right to be on my property she had no response. When I asked for her insurance information to file a claim she refused (isn\'t this illegal?). While finally several months later Rober Mills contacted me (only after I filed complaints with the GA & OH Attorney General\'s Office, the BBB and the US DOT) to say he needed 5 business days to research and would contact me - guess what, the day he promised he\'d contact me has come and gone dispite my repeated attempts to contact him. I filed a claim with my homeowners insurance - I can only assume the $470 Liberty Mutual estimates it\'ll cost to repair the damage is needed much more by Mills Van Lines than it is by me...it\'s a shame a nationwide mover (and a franchisee of a very well respected moving line-Allied) is in such a difficult situation and they need to keep hiding from me rather than discussing the matter in an honorable way (especially given the small amounts we\'re talking about) Not sure I\'d trust them with my household goods - I\'ve been moved 5 times professionally and never had an issue with a damage claim however I\'m not sure I\'d expect the same to happen with Mills as a result of my experience with them 1.0000
