Return Before Take Off If you’ve rented videos at the local video shop, checked out library books, or have clothes at the dry cleaners, make a note to yourself to take care of these items before you leave. Packing Crystal and Glassware Every piece of crystal and glassware should be individually covered with bubble wrap. If you pack more than one piece of crystal or glassware into a single box, go ahead and use dividers to prevent your items from bumping into each other during transit. You should also cushion the bottom of the box with a layer of materials such as extra bubble wrap or packing peanuts. Padded dish boxes work very well for transporting crystal or glassware. Be sure to mark “Fragile” and “This Side Up” on the box for the movers. For Containers Only Pack your containers accordingly by sealing any open containers to prevent spilling. If you have any ceramic containers, make sure to remove the lids and wrap them separately, especially since they’re so fragile. You should make sure that any liquids that you’re transporting aren’t toxic, corrosive, or flammable. Organizing Packing Boxes Once you’ve figured out all of the packing supplies you will need, try grouping similar-sized boxes together. You should have separate piles designated for certain items. This way, you won’t have to sort through heavy piles for a particular box you need.
