Separating Boxes Be sure to separate any boxes you plan on transporting yourself and mark “Do Not Load” so your movers will know. Packing Your Mirrors Packing mirrors require special attention. You can safely wrap your mirrors in tissue paper or cover the mirror face with masking tape. However, if you have more expensive mirrors to move, you should consider investing in boxes that are specifically designed for transporting mirrors. Oil Paintings Oil paintings require special handling when you move. Be sure to use non-acidic plastic wrap for the painting before wrapping it again with protective material such as bubble wrap. And just to make sure your painting is well-protected during transit, get a picture box to pack it in. Taking Out Shelves Anything with shelves should be removed from their respective pieces of furniture before you move. This includes bookcases, television stands, curio and china cabinets, and hutches. Be sure to keep your shelf pins together in the same plastic bag once you're done.
