Moving Tips
Brokers for the Best Deals
With their database of moving companies, moving brokers that are operating on a nationwide scale can often insure that you get discount moving company rates for your move. Many brokers often offer free moving quotes and compiled lists of moving companies in major cities and areas for you to search through at your leisure. So before you start making any definitive decisions on which carrier to hire, invest a little time with a moving broker and see what comes up. Chances are, you’ll find a deal you wouldn’t have found otherwise.
Number by Priority
One way of prioritizing your items for the move is by assigning numbers from most important to least important. Mark a 1 on all of your boxes that contain items you need immediately or on a regular basis. You should mark a 2 on boxes that have items you won't be using right away, but possibly within a month or so such as books and movies. A 3 should be assigned to seasonal items, and 4 for the items meant for storage.
Moving Your Armoire
Armoires can serve in several different capacities, to house your television and entertainment center, a storage space for kitchen appliances, or as an additional compartment for your clothes. No matter what you choose to use it for, you should figure out exactly where you'll have the armoire situated before you move in. Check to see if it will be blocking any heating vents or cold-air returns and make sure that it won't be in the path of any door swings.
Stocking Up On Supplies
You can find commercial moving supplies almost anywhere, from your local drugstores and supermarkets to moving storage buildings and truck rental places. Make sure to stock up on packing tape, boxes, box-cutters, labels, packing peanuts, and bubble wrap. Oftentimes, you can sell back any extra boxes or items you have left over.
