Moving Musical Instruments Your musical instruments should be cleaned before packing. If you have any instruments that can be disassembled into individual parts such as a detachable mouthpiece, be sure to do so. Also, consider investing in a hard case for your instrument. Soft cases are great for carrying instruments, but the sturdier hard cases are better for loading and damage prevention. Short on Boxes? If you find yourself short on boxes, you can always acquire heavier carton boxes from liquor stores, super markets, paper warehouses or mail order supply houses. Some moving supply companies offer used boxes for lower prices as well. Meter Readings Before you close the door to your old home for the last time, jot down all of your meter readings. This way, you have a reference to look back on once you receive your final bill from the utility companies. You can also call the utility companies to arrange for meter readings on the last day if you have time. Moving Your Fish It's important not to feed your fish for several days prior to the move. This is to insure that your pets' digestive systems are cleared and won't contaminate the water; fish tend to excrete a lot when they're stressed. Have a large cooler prepared for transporting your fish in their respective plastic baggies. Make sure to secure the bags with rubber bands.
