Removing the Weights in a Grandfather Clock If you can’t afford to hire a clock specialist to service your grandfather clock, you can carefully remove the weights yourself. You should always don cotton gloves before you change/remove anything inside the clock. Remove the weights piece by piece and note each of their respective positions so you can reinstall them in the correct order. If the weights are suspended by cables, break off an adequately-sized piece of Styrofoam, cut a slit through the middle, and fit the Styrofoam around the pulley. This way, it'll prevent any damage your pulleys may receive during transit. Afterwards, remove the weights.
Taking Out Shelves Anything with shelves should be removed from their respective pieces of furniture before you move. This includes bookcases, television stands, curio and china cabinets, and hutches. Be sure to keep your shelf pins together in the same plastic bag once you're done.

Don\'t be fooled by the polite lady who you set the move up, sign the contract, and pay the deposit with. They\'ll show up late with a budget truck. Charge you MUCH MORE than the estimate. Then they will never return phone calls or tell you how long it will take to deliver or when your items are estimated to arrive. You\'ll get angry but no where to vent bc they DON\'T return phone calls. They completely ignore you. This moving company is so messed up. 1.0000
