Packing Your Printer or Scanner Any remote devices you may use with your computer, such as your printer and scanner, should be packed separately in their own boxes. Be sure to disconnect their respective cables and cords. If you don’t have the original boxes for these devices, pick an appropriately sized box for each and fill it with protective material to prevent any possible damage during transportation. Hey, Plant Owners If you own plants, keep in mind that most moving companies won’t transport live and perishable things. Some states even prohibit the transportation of household plants. So unless you absolutely can’t part with them, you can always give your plants out to friends or charity. Preparing Pots and Pans for Moving Although pots and pans vary in size, you can usually nest about three of each together in a single carton. Make sure you have large enough pieces of packing paper to cover the entire interior of your largest pan and leave some cushioning on the bottom of the crate. The first pot or pan you place inside the box should be the smallest in size. The pan or pot should be upside down with several sheets of packing paper on top of it before you stack the next one. Once you've stacked three, fill the spaces with packing material to prevent shifting.
