Return Before Take Off If you’ve rented videos at the local video shop, checked out library books, or have clothes at the dry cleaners, make a note to yourself to take care of these items before you leave.
Packing Your Printer or Scanner Any remote devices you may use with your computer, such as your printer and scanner, should be packed separately in their own boxes. Be sure to disconnect their respective cables and cords. If you don’t have the original boxes for these devices, pick an appropriately sized box for each and fill it with protective material to prevent any possible damage during transportation.
Stocking Up On Supplies You can find commercial moving supplies almost anywhere, from your local drugstores and supermarkets to moving storage buildings and truck rental places. Make sure to stock up on packing tape, boxes, box-cutters, labels, packing peanuts, and bubble wrap. Oftentimes, you can sell back any extra boxes or items you have left over.
Local Moving Services Local moving services can be found in your local directory or just by searching for them online. Don’t hesitate to inquire about their services or for more specific details in order to have a larger picture of how they operate. There are many websites online that compile lists of local moving companies with their contact information for your convenience.

AAA Movers Michael 14 May 2011 Severely disappointed with the service of this institution. D... Severely disappointed with the service of this institution. David, the owner, was unprofessional in his dealings and I would suggest for a similar price in the local area you could find much more reliable service and a harder working staff. I highlight some of my dealings: -I called David the night before to confirm the arrival date of the moving truck the following morning---he had recorded the wrong date of our move and was not prepared to be out the next day. He was able to get a truck out to us, however the first example of subpar service. Also., if I had not called, they would have not showed up and I would not have been out of my house on the agreed upon date. -A truck and two workers showed up. One of the workers was severely hung over from the night before. I know this because he told my wife and I several times. His being hung over combined, with the heat and the amount of work led him to constantly taking breaks and being physically unable to finish the job. Literally, after lunch he got in the truck and sat for about 45 minutes. He then called David to say he could not continue working and that additional workers would have to be sent over. During this time, although tired, the other worker and I continued to unload the majority of the truck. I paid 105$ per hour for the two workers and do not fell that they earned that amount of money. I broached the subject with the owner and he seemed to feel that if his worker was not physically drunk at work, there was no issue. He did not seem to think that the constant breaks and quitting early were much of a problem. Again, I go back to the quality of the service you get for 105$. In addition, then David showed up with the additional men, he was quite indignant that he had to be there, and that moving our house was not a job for just two of his men. That is fine, but where was this great info eight hours earlier. As previously mentioned, his organization leaves a lot to be desired. Also, I spoke with David and was given a half hour credit for the break!!!!! -Lunch time: At the conclusion of packing up the truck, the movers said they would be at my house in twenty five minutes. They needed to go weigh the truck and would go to my new house---my new house being about 4 miles away and the weigh station on the way. Two hours later no truck- no phone call. I called David and he informed me that the two men went to grab lunch. Lunch is fine, but professionalism would dictate a phone call. Twenty minutes later the two men showed up. I was given another half hour for the two men to each lunch. The justification for the rest of the time was that the truck was in a long line at the weigh station. I called the weigh station the next day. He remembered the truck and said that there was no line. The truck and the two men were in and out very quickly. I am still having trouble doing the math, however David thought this was all perfectly normal. One of the workers also told me that he had to run by his house for a ‘quick sec’. --In sum, for the amount of money I paid for this move, I was severely disappointed with the quality of service. There are numerous moving companies in the area and I am sure they couldn’t do a worse job. I spoke with David the next day over the phone to share my thoughts and I will say that he listened, but basically told me that he had been doing this his whole life and has a great reputation. I would say that at this point David and his company are only surviving on reputation alone, that their current work product. I was given an hour credit and did night fight the bill as much as I should have, but I write this so that others don’t make my mistake. Finally, if one of my employees displayed the attitude towards our customers that David displayed upon arrival at my house to take the place of his employee who quit, my employee would no longer be working for me. 2.0000
