Hey, Plant Owners If you own plants, keep in mind that most moving companies won’t transport live and perishable things. Some states even prohibit the transportation of household plants. So unless you absolutely can’t part with them, you can always give your plants out to friends or charity. The Price Isn't Always Right Low cost movers do exist as impossible as it may seem. Unfortunately, like all good things, it requires a little time and searching on your part. Keep in mind however, just because a carrier is offering a ridiculously low cost estimate, that doesn’t make them the best choice. Referrals, reviews, and investigation are still needed for the final verdict. Plastic Durability If you have any plastic kitchen containers such as Tupperware, you can use these to protect your smaller more fragile items. If you want to insure a more shock-absorbent capacity, you can double-box the containers before placing your items inside. Packing Your Table Lamps When packing your table lamp, make sure you have an adequately sized box to accommodate it. If you can't find a carton that fits the size of your lamp, a dishpack carton will work as a substitute. Make sure you line the bottom of the box you're using with enough cushioning. So before you start packing your table lamp, remove the bulb and the lampshade. Wrap the lamp's cord around the base. Avoid using packing tape as it may strip the paint or outer coating of your lamp. Afterwards, cover the lamp in bubble wrap and fold over the edges on the top and bottom before you tape. Put the lamp in the box and fill any spaces with extra bubble wrap to prevent shifting during transit.
