Moving Labor If you have friends with strong backs or family members who can lend a helping hand, you can save money by asking them to help you out on moving day. That way, you’ll have all of your furniture and belongings ready for loading before the movers arrive, and it’ll expedite the process so you can be one step closer to getting to your new home. Naturally, moving your belongings without hired help comes with its own risks. Movers are professionally trained to handle your belongings with the least amount of risk. Brokers for the Best Deals With their database of moving companies, moving brokers that are operating on a nationwide scale can often insure that you get discount moving company rates for your move. Many brokers often offer free moving quotes and compiled lists of moving companies in major cities and areas for you to search through at your leisure. So before you start making any definitive decisions on which carrier to hire, invest a little time with a moving broker and see what comes up. Chances are, you’ll find a deal you wouldn’t have found otherwise. Organizing Packing Boxes Once you’ve figured out all of the packing supplies you will need, try grouping similar-sized boxes together. You should have separate piles designated for certain items. This way, you won’t have to sort through heavy piles for a particular box you need. Preparing Pots and Pans for Moving Although pots and pans vary in size, you can usually nest about three of each together in a single carton. Make sure you have large enough pieces of packing paper to cover the entire interior of your largest pan and leave some cushioning on the bottom of the crate. The first pot or pan you place inside the box should be the smallest in size. The pan or pot should be upside down with several sheets of packing paper on top of it before you stack the next one. Once you've stacked three, fill the spaces with packing material to prevent shifting.

Imperial Movers Inc Maybe I have a problem with this company because I didn't know... 1.0
Maybe I have a problem with this company because I didn't know about this address of theirs. I have been trying to contact them by mail about the claim I put in 7 months ago about my broken TV. Two certified letters have been returned claiming wrong address or unclaimed mail.

They broke my TV, and eventually admitted it (after blaming me, the cable guy, and the "tubes" inside my LCD TV).

They did not, however, do anything about it other than pass me around to different phone numbers and lie about calling me back or sending me information in the mail. Now we have to go to small claims court, and might only get back the 60 cents/pound they claim is their standard insurance. Fully insured is how they label themselves - guess that doesn't apply to the customer!

If you want boxes moved to a new apartment, Imperial Movers is great. If you want to make sure your stuff isn't broken on the way, find someone else.
